CORTO IN ACCADEMIA
Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata promotes the contest "CORTO IN ACCADEMIA", a competition for independent short films.
The goal is to develop the potential of new languages through the collection of animation and/or video works, whose realization can be traced back to teaching and cultural activities of Italian and European Academies of Fine Arts.
Apart from the short films, CORTO IN ACCADEMIA" will consider the various contemporary forms of filmmaking, from smartphones to TV and web series, animation films and it will take place at Macerata Fine Arts Academy.
The 2019 edition of the competition will be held in Macerata at the Svoboda Auditorium of Macerata Fine Arts Academy; during the final evening on Thursday, 23th May 2019, a gala award ceremony will take place.
The contest is open to all kinds of short films (fiction, animation, music, documentary, experimental) shot in any format, lasting maximum 10 minutes (opening titles and closing credits included), produced by Italian and European Academies of Fine Arts after 1st January 2018.
The author shall indicate in the application form the theme which inspired him in the production of the short film and will send, along with the registration, a production notes sheet (fiction plot summary and reasons for the choice of the theme).
Short films which have already won or been submitted to other contests are allowed, but only one work per author/film maker or group of authors /filmmakers will be admitted. Participating in the competition is free of charge. Short films already submitted to previous editions of “Corto in Accademia” will not be admitted again.
Each participant shall fill the online application form available on the competition website (http://cortoinaccademia.abamc.it) and shall deliver the video to the contact person appointed by the home Institution that will upload it to the dedicated video channel, no later than 23:30 on 30th April 2019.
All the works submitted to the Festival "Corto in Accademia" will be previewed by a preselecting international commission, composed of a selection of experts from European Academies of Fine Arts, who will nominate the ten short films "in competition" for the awards assignment.
The results of the pre-selection by the international commission will be published on the web page of the contest (http://cortoinaccademia.abamc.it). The selected short films will be shown on Thursday, 23th May 2019. The works "in competition" will be evaluated by a Technical Jury composed of critics, journalists and representatives of the multimedia world, who will select the final three winners. The members of the Technical Jury will be appointed by decree of the Directorate of Macerata Fine Arts Academy. The award ceremony will take place during the gala evening on Thursday, 23th May, and the opinions coming from the votes of the International Commission and the Jury are to be considered as incontestable.
During the Festival the short films selected by the International Commission for the final will be shown and
the following prizes will be awarded:
- First Place “Best Short Film 2019” (1.000 € and a plaque)
- Second Place (500 € and a plaque)
- Third Place (300 € and a plaque)
- WEB Award (500 € and a plaque)
- People’s choice Award (a plaque)
The Prizewinners shall include in the opening credits of the winning works the name and logo of Macerata Fine Arts Academy and the award obtained, in case of presentations or distributions of their works taking place after the present contest.
The entry of a short film in the competition implies the free assignment (non-exclusive) to Macerata Fine Arts Academy of the rights of the work for purposes related to the promotion of the initiative.
Taking part in "Corto in Accademia" implies also the full acceptance of all the rules, as per admission application.
